Sunny Beach is one of the main
holiday resorts in Bulgaria which is famous for the purest
sand on this coastline and is excellent for all watersports
including scuba diving with the chance to discover pristine
bays, sunken caves and medieval shipwrecks as well as a
variety of marine life.. It also sports two large casinos,
numerous bars, night clubs, shops, mini golf and tennis and
superb hotels which welcome you to use their facilities and
also boasts the best night life. There is also a water park
in the nearby vicinity. Buses run up and down the main
strip so there is never any difficult getting around.
Just to the west of Sunny Beach is the quieter town of
Nessebar. Here you will find an Old Town that is home to
ancient monuments, quiet restaurants, romantic restaurants
overlooking the Black Sea and fashionable cafes.
Right along this
coastline are spas and Balneological centres where you can
enjoy invigorating massages and relaxing baths in mineral
and herbal water pools which reach natural temperatures of
40 degrees and you can also wallow around in deeply
restorative thick mud.
For a unique taste of Bulgaria’s religious history you can
visit the mountain monasteries most of which date back to
the Middle Ages. There are good transport links to nearest
city of Varna only 19 kilometres away to the north-east and
here you can visit the Aladzha rock monastery which is
carved into a steep rock cliff high above the ground. Dug
from the rock in the 12th century you can tour
the monk’s cells, common room and chapel.
